At approximately 1:32 AM December 10 Carlton was dispatched to a possible structure fire at 1156 Waterport Road along with automatic mutual aid from Lyndonville, Medina and Ridgeway. First arriving units found a residential structure fully involved with an attached garage not yet involved as well as an unattached barn. Within minutes of the arrival of the first units, both the front and rear exterior walls collapsed outward. The location was outside the hydrant district in Carlton so a tanker shuttle operation was put in place. Additional mutual aid was requested and received from Lyndonville, Ridgeway, Shelby, East Shelby, Albion, Barre, Kendall, FHM and Holley. COVA also placed an ambulance on standby at the scene. The last units left the scene at approximately 5:30 AM.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Orleans County Fire Investigators.
